From City Grind to Mountain High: Working Remote the Mikro Grafeio Way

Updated: Jul 30

They say a change of scenery is as good as a rest, and boy, did I need one! But before we dive into my mid-work-crisis rejuvenation story, let's just say the daily grind had me yearning for a breath of fresh air (literally and figuratively).

Now, for the past three years, I've been navigating the ever-interesting world of workspace booking, happy employees, and building bridges between different teams (think Avengers, but for business!). Back when I first joined Mikro Grafeio, we were all about creating the ultimate workspace booking hub for India – a platform called berighthere.com, where anyone could find their perfect work nook.

Even then, the concept of remote work was bubbling under the surface. Our founders were like work-from-anywhere superheroes, way ahead of the curve. Then came the pandemic, and suddenly, kitchen tables everywhere became the new office HQ (cue the questionable Zoom backgrounds, we've all been there).

Mikro Grafeio wasn't about to miss a beat. We saw this remote work revolution as an opportunity, not just to adapt, but to completely flip the script. Why cram everyone into expensive metro offices when we could bring the office to the people? Enter the genius plan to establish workspaces in tier 2 and 3 cities across India.

Think about it. This move opened doors for talented individuals who, for various reasons (family obligations, soul-crushing metro rent, or simply the desire to escape the daily traffic nightmare), couldn't relocate to a big city. Mikro Grafeio saw the potential, and more importantly, they saw the people.

And let me tell you, this remote work revolution wasn't just good for attracting top talent; it was a game-changer for us Mikro Grafeio employees. We ditched the rigid 9-to-5 for a results-oriented approach. Freedom replaced micromanagement, and guess what? We thrived! Productivity soared, quality improved, and employee satisfaction went through the roof.

Fast forward to recently, and my responsibilities expanded significantly. Taking on additional leadership roles on top of my existing workload meant juggling a lot. Let's just say it became a bit, well, overwhelming. Add to that some personal commitments requiring a trip back home, and I was feeling stretched thin.

A break was desperately needed, but with new initiatives brewing, taking time off felt like an impossible dream. Then, inspiration struck! So my trip back home always takes me through either Wayanad or Coorg, those stunning mountain ranges. This time, on a whim, I decided to pause my journey in Wayanad. Instead of just passing through, I extended my stay and transformed my hotel room into a remote work haven. It was time to truly live the Mikro Grafeio dream.

Living the Mikro Grafeio Dream

At Mikro Grafeio, our guiding principle for marketing and customer service is simple: give our customers something we'd personally buy, use, or experience. What's good for us, is good for them. This philosophy extends beyond product offerings; it's about understanding the remote work lifestyle we promote.

By experiencing the joys and challenges of remote work in a stunning location, I gained valuable insights that will directly benefit how we approach our offerings. Maybe it's understanding the importance of creating a dedicated workspace in a non-traditional setting, or appreciating the need for high-speed internet access in unexpected locations. Whatever the learnings, they stem from firsthand experience, ensuring our approach to remote work solutions resonates with our customers.

A Breath of Fresh Air (Literally!)

Managing teams, delegating tasks, brainstorming ideas – all while surrounded by breathtaking scenery. The fresh mountain air cleared my head, sparking better decision-making and a newfound sense of clarity. It was the perfect environment to strategize these new processes, the kind that would shape the future of the company.

As I write this, overlooking the majestic mountains and valleys, I can't help but feel a surge of accomplishment. Not only did I get my work done, but I even managed to plant some seeds for the future. While I was basking in the beauty of Wayanad, I sparked some interest among the locals about creating remote-work-friendly spaces in their homestays and hotels. Who knows, maybe my little knowledge-sharing session will add some amazing new locations to our Mikro Grafeio network!

So, there you have it. From stressed-out office dweller to a mountain-dwelling productivity machine, this little adventure is a testament to the power of flexibility and the Mikro Grafeio way of working. After all, a change of scenery can do wonders, and sometimes, the best office view is the one that inspires you the most.
